Thoughts are Things

Great way to think about life, as a joy rather than a down, not matter what it might throw at you! Thank you Debi for this lesson!

Thoughts are Things -

Hills states that when opportunity comes it has a
sly habit of slipping in by the back door and it
is often disguised in the form of misfortune or
temporary defeat.

This past Friday morning I was giving the opportunity
to put into action what I have been learning. I must
confession, I did not start out using my thoughts in
a positive direction.

I am a Flight Attendant and was on call this weekend
(Fri. Sat. Sun). My "on call" duty time starts at mid
night Friday morning. I live in Kentucky and work in
New York City. So, I have to commute to work.

I had just arrived at my apartment in New York on
Thursday night around 10:30 PM. I was just getting
settled to sleep the night and the phone rang. It
was Scheduling calling me to tell me that I had a
trip.

I had to be at Kennedy airport by 2:00 AM to work a
flight to Paris, France. At that moment it time I was
looking at this as a misfortune.

I had not had any sleep, I had just gotten there, taken
off all my make-up, and was ready for bed and I was not
on duty yet. WHY ME! I did some mental ranting and
raving, obviously not practicing the mental cleanse.
Then proceeded to get ready to go back to the airport.

When I arrived in the area where we brief before the
flight, all of use where on the same page. Ranting and
raving about being the ones "picked" to work this when
we where not on duty.

When had not sleep, we had been up since early morning,
etc, etc,....Then one of the flight attendants stopped
us all in our tracks. She said we needed to be looking
at this from a different point of view.

What if you had received a call in the middle of the
night, been told you had won a trip to Paris, France.

Your hotel was paid for, you where going to get feed
all the way over and all the way back. You had 2 hours
to be at the airport and you would be in Paris for 15 -
17 hours.

Your hotel was walking distance to the Eiffel Tower
and you had time to go there and have night out in
Paris.

How would you be feeling then? Happy, thrilled beyond
belief. You could not get to the airport fast enough.

Right then it hit me, I had a wonderful opportunity.
I changed my attitude instantly. I also learned that
I have a great deal of work to do on my thoughts.

The trip gave me the opportunity to share a product
that helped keep every crew member going for the long
haul.

We did not leave New York until 3:30 in the morning and
landed in Paris at 4:30 PM their time. We had all been
up for over 24 hours. I also had the opportunity to
make some marketing videos in front of the Eiffel Tower,
create new friends and potential customers.

Thanks Michael and Linda for giving me the opportunity
to learn and grow.

Your friend,
Debi Talbert
